The Grand Strand, where ocean meets action and fun, fun, fun

While Hurricane Irma may have put the brakes on our West Palm Beach, FL adventure it didn't stop us from paying a visit to one of my favorite beach towns: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

With a homebase at the Ellington Wachesaw Villas the highlight of our Editorial Team visit was The Carolina Opry, Brookgreen Gardens, Captain Hooks Adventure Golf and Medieval Times

Plus of course, plenty of time watching the waves at the unbeatable Huntington Beach State Park. And with Myrtle Beach so close to so many major cities (for us Canadian the trip is a mere 14 hours south).[

And while Myrtle Beach wasn't in our original plans we certainly did take full advantage of our unscheduled stop. If you're on the eastern seaboard and looking for a vacation that's got an unbeatable beach, great entertainment and fantastic fun, this may be exactly what you're looking for.

The Quick 411

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach is famous for doing things in a BIG way. Big shows on big stages. Big, wide beaches. Big golf. Big wheels. Big Big Big.

5 stand out characteristics

For our Homebase: Ellington Wachesaw Villas
For our Art and Garden Fix: Brookgreen Gardens
For Family Fun: Captain Hooks Adventure Golf
For an unforgettable Night Out: Medieval Times
For Getting our Groove On: Time Warp at The Carolina Opry
Myrtle Beach does mini-golf in a very big way! Our Editor's favorite course? Captain Hooks Adventure Golf. Chosen for it's unbelieveable elevations, Neverland theme and exceptional fun quotient! Our Editor and intern team racked up a few hole-in-ones and loved the Pirate Ship backdrop and dramatic caves.
When it comes to world class stages, Myrtle Beach has more than its fair share. While our Editor visited many Shows while in The Grand Strand one of the most memorable was her visit to Medieval Times. Highlights? The beauty and grace of the horses as they bowed and danced, the colorful parade of Knights and of course, the loud cheering and jeering that makes Medieval Times a perenniel favorite.
There are few gardens that have captured our Editor's heart more than Brookgreen Gardens in Murrell's Inlet. This world celebrated garden is only a few miles from all the loud action of Myrtle Beach but you'll feel like you're in a whole other dimension. Walk down the famous Live Oak Alley and listen for the voices from centuries past. Marvel in sculptures that feel so natural in the garden you'll swear they emerged from the soil instead of from an artist's hand. While at the Garden, the team enjoyed a lively session centered around the colorful and often untold story of the Gullah Geechee.
Being so close to one of the most beautiful beaches in the USA puts a skip in your step but what really got our Editorial team moving was (almost) front row seats at the Carolina Opry for Time Warp. With the most famous tunes from the 60's, 70's and 80's performed by talented musicians it didn't take long for the audience to start rocking in their chairs! With the glamour and glitz of the Carolina Opry as the backdrop our team's night at Time Warp was a highlight of the week.
Homebase: Ellington Wachesaw Villas These villas are tucked up in Murrell's Inlet and close to everything. The team unwound in their two bedroom villa complete with every amenity they could ask for. It was the perfect launch pad for a week of touring and tasting!

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
